Molokai is home to the world's tallest sea cliffs at Kalaupapa, the longest white-sand beach in Hawaii at Papohaku, and a strong Native Hawaiian community. Visit respectfully: this is a living culture, not a theme park. Many sites require a guide or permit.

Lanai: luxury on a quiet island
Once a pineapple plantation, Lanai is now a private-island escape with two ultra-luxury resorts, one tiny town, and 90% of the island owned by one company.
Lanai is the opposite of Molokai in style but similar in solitude. The Four Seasons resorts (one beachfront, one upcountry) anchor the experience, with golf, spa, and off-road adventures across red-dirt roads. Lanai City is a charming, walkable town.
